I know, I know, give it a rest already. Valentine’s Day is over. Some people don’t even consider it a “real” holiday. But you know, all those Valentines’ cookies that stores stocked up on are now on sale.
I think we’ll enjoy ours with some hot chocolate.
Hot Chocolate (adapted from Tyler Florence’s recipe here)
Yum Factor: Alex – 8, Jessalyn – 9
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1/2 cup nonfat powdered milk
– 1/4 cup cocoa powder
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
– handful of dark chocolate chips
Whisk together. Store in airtight container.
To make hot chocolate: 1 part mix to 2 parts liquid.
For a small cup, add 1/3 cup mixture with 1/3 cup whole milk and 1/3 cup water (or you can do all milk or all water) to a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Whisk frequently to combine. Heat through until barely simmering (you don’t really want it to simmer nor boil).
Rich and decadent and oh so delicious. The mix makes a great gift, too.
